Well this is a kind of obvious question. What is the oldest thing you have ever found metal detecting? I can be anything (metal preferred, I know some of the smartalecks on here who will upload a picture of a random rock), and a picture would be nice.

I'll start. Just last Saturday I found an Eagle Infantry button that I'm told is 1840's/1850's. It was cool for me because it was the first thing I ever found that I could put a date on, other than some assorted clad. It was also the second signal that I ever dug with my F-75.
It should be interesting to see what everyone has found, and I'm sure the detectorists from across the pond will have most of us beat in the States.

Oldest dated item is 1903. However, I've found tools and other items that date from the second half of the 1800's.

Great find !! I've found a 1848 large cent, it's pretty beat up but the date is there. Also, how do you like that F75 ? I've been debating between the F75 and AT pro for a new machine.

I've never used an ATP to be able to tell you which is better, but the F-75 kicks butt. I can pick up a dime at 8 inches with sensitivity set at only 70, which is pretty impressive to me. The only problem I'm having with it is pinpointing with the DD coil, but I'm slowly getting there.
