Whites 10x6 DD Coil

Hi everyone,

I wonder if you might be able to offer some advice. I recently purchased a used VDX off of craigslist, which came with both the stock 950 coil and the 10x6 DD coil. The detector is great, but I have been having inconsistent performance from the DD coil (falsing, ringing up nails as 90 VDIs, silent pinpointing, the list goes on). I tried the test (pumping up the Rx Gain to 15 and then pulling the trigger; if it overloads, the coil is supposed to be faulty). Sure enough the detector overloaded; in fact, it overloaded at just Rx10.

So here's my question (s): Is this a factory defect that causes this problem? Given that it was purchased second hand, will Whites still work with me on a replacement coil if it is a factory defect?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

From what I've heard and read, Whites is pretty good to work with. The only way for you to find out for certain is to give them a call. I'm thinking they'll either replace the coil at no cost or possibly at cost. Good luck.
