If you or anyone else ever find a large cache of Gold Coins, just give them to me and you will never have to be concerned with the answer to your question.

I prefer to keep my giant piles of gold coins in the solid round form until they are liquidated.

First, I wouldn't tell a soul. Then, I would rebury the cache under a remote oak tree. Then I would wait.

...and wait...

...and wait...

...and...

Die.

Whoops... did it wrong.

Try to sell a sizeable amount of gold bullion or coin or a pile of bent up old gold rings at a fair market price. Try it. It aint so liquid. Its practically solid. You can sell a pile of scrap copper way easier.

Maybe Im wrong but this is what I would do. Step 1 get copy of grey sheet to get ballpark value. Step 2, send coins 2 at a time to PCGS for grading. NOT ALL COINS WILL BE SENT UNDER MY NAME. Step 3, go to major coin shows and DISCREETLY sell 2 or 3 at each show. Hint to major coin dealers that I may or may not have more. All cash sales. Slow and steady. No 20 coin sales to 1 dealer or collectors.
