I am happy finding any silver coin... even the lowly Rosie brings a smile to my face.

I don't get to hunt many old places... so reales are out of the question... as are KGs, LCs and seated coins. I have found a Walker and a Franklin this summer, both of those were really thrilling for me to find.

It would be nice to find another half dollar, or an SLQ... but I would happy just finding a silver Rosie. I have to keep my expectations in check, or I just get disappointed and frustrated.

Tom, surely near Charlotte there is some history that dates back to the revolution. Do you say you can't hunt coins that old because the opportunity to hunt on land that might be good isn't available?

I gotta keep it real here guys... here in SW Florida our history is limited. Turn of the century coinage is in reality as old as we can get, (except for the random seated dime I found)... I have yet to find any big silver, and expect that if I do, it would present itself in the form of a beautiful lady, a Walker... I know the story too. High school student, working a summer job at the local golf course as a caddy, gets a freshly minted half as a tip, plays catch with a football at his buddy's house, dives to make a catch off the turf, losing the coin forever, until a Garrett Ace 350 says hello there, nice to see you, this is BigWaveDave, and he is about to faint:laughing7:

But I would settle for a Sovereign, or an Australian Crown.

The ultimate, a pine tree shilling, or at least a piece of one. That would be my goal here in Massachusetts.

As young as our state is and as poor as the people were in the early days, I'd be excited with any Barber.
