Still new to this but got the gold bug to the stream this morning and did alright with it! I am amazed at the size of what this detector can pick up. Even if it is smaller then a picker sitting in moss it will change pulse. of course on all my really good hits it was either lead or aluminum or hot rocks but fun to learn it. After the stream I hit an old spot loaded with trash so decided I would try running in discrimination mode and would only dig solid hits 50 and above. And I got my first mercury dime dated 1943 and three wheat pennies 1927, 1924,1920. Still trying to learn but am finding it is easier in the stream then in old foundation and trashy sites. have a good weekend

Looks like a great hunt to me. If that's you "starting" then you should do well as you go along.

I wish there was some gold where I live but I'm just not in the right part of the country for anything substantial.
