George Lesche at Predator Tools makes the best.

I have a Piranah (Model 35).. also had a 58LT Ultra Eagle. The UE has no step on top, a muddy boot will slip from it, that is why I got the Piranah, basically the same shovel, with a wider step.

Buy from Predator Tools, that is George's company, He is the founder and an all American original!

I can't read any replies, but predator tools has a great shovel that matches what you want... I believe it's actually the sane family that makes Lesche... I think I read that somewhere... Either way, I have the Sampson like you are describing you already have. I think my blue predator shovel is called a raptor.

Picture my predator when I unboxed it

Tree spade Walmart 20 bucks. Nothing fancy but nice neat holes and I put a short loop thru the handle to sling it on the shoulder. You have to keep a han d on it so it doesn't bang your knee.

I've got the ground shark too...good for a lot of stuff, but not mud or sticky clay - too much curvature - holds it and hard to scrape off.

I have a thing for trenching shovels - the right angle and everything for me. I need a new one - going to shorten the handle by 33%.
