I found this at an early-late 1800's house site and have not been able to find any info on it... it looks like it says 'N.Y.B.Co." on one side and 'ALBANY NY" on the other. Anyone know about this thing?
jeff of pa: That's interesting! I wonder if there is any info in the city of Albany records... there must be something somewhere. Thanks for doing some fancy sleuthing!
Also, I was reminded that there are bricks with NYBCO stamped on them... maybe New York Brick Company. I'll have to do a bit of investigating on that. Thanks for your responses so far!
I'm not sure, though... the (Greater) New York Brick Co. was started in 1911 or so and lead seals were used more in the 1800's and earlier. I'll have to keep looking into it.
