I would count that as a keeper. And any hunt with at least one keeper is successful in my book.

A Wheat is a beautiful thing when targets are sparse. I hit the dirt for two hours today and have 2 memorials and 1 clad dime to show for it. I went with my Fisher 1265X today instead of my CTX. I dug every solid signal, where with the CTX I believe I've been too picky. My bag of trash was heavy :(

Agree, a wheatie is always a nice surprise. And you then tell yourself that there's silver lurking close by!

Same here this spot is scarce these days but I did dig a 1941 quarter last week so I went back. My bag was heavy and then I heard that 81 at 6 inches deep and I smiled. Got in my truck and went home. I felt undefeated......by a penny. Lol

That's the advantage of the CTX......only dig good sounding/reading targets and not end up with a huge pouch of trash. :laughing7:

I think it was like a 1943 I'm not sure of the mint mark. I threw it in with all the rest of them.

If it is, you hit the jackpot my friend! Even in that condition, it would be worth a small fortune. All 1943 cents were supposed to be made of zinc coated steel that year, but, a few planchets from the previous year somehow made into the new batch and got stamped.

I thank you for that info now I got to go hunt it out. I hope I can find it.

Wheaties are nice in and of themselves, but more significant is that finding one usually means that you are in an area that may hold other valuable finds.
