Got a Equinox 800 coming Saturday and would like to go to Mecca area to try it out. Complete novice.
Any suggestions as to legal metal detecting areas around Mecca?

1st - I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Big Mac Mac! Take a look at Forum: California for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

2nd - If no one can help ya out with your question - you might consider posting your question on FORUM: CALIFORNIA for more exposure...

It will depend on who owns the actual land you will be hunting. If it's private, get permission from the owner. If it's government, look up the agency that oversees that land and read their use rules.
