Travelling to the Dominican Republic - Can I take my Detec..

Good Day,
I am traveling to the Dominican Republic from Canada, I would like to take my MineLab Excalibur with me, however, my travel agent has advised against it. She says that the detector will probably be seized at the airport, upon returning from the Dominican Republic. If you have ever seen the Minelab Excalibur, it has a rather ominous appearance when it comes to packing it into a case and getting on a plane with it. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience traveling to the Dominican Republic with a metal detector and specifically if they have had any problems returning with their detector.

All input is greatly appreciated,
Regards,
Jeff

don't take the detector, all you will have is problems, unless you have a permit from the government. if you are with a large group that does this together, than there is less chance of being singled out and everything taken from you. a permit three years ago took about 5 months. today i don't know.
