Silverswede's campground/hunting camp finds with Minelab XS2APRO

Heres pretty much everything I packed home from a couple of summers hunting back woods camp sites here in north Idaho. The quarters are mysteriously missing, seems the wife found a place that would take rolled dirty ones. Nothing of any great value here but the just getting out and digging in a quiet peacful setting is priceless to me. Everything here was found with my Minelab Soverign XS2A Pro. with a 10" stock coil run on full discrimination. (I don't like digging rusty tin, wire, and nails). I dig with a small sturdy shovel called a "clamming" shovel. Well finally did it now I can put the box on a shelf and get ready for spring and more camp sites. Thanks for looking and as Badger says "Have a good un'.

I really do like the Sovereign, Misterbeee, I wanted a detector that would cut down on the junk digging and was simple so I just run on factory settings and high discriminate. Outside of the "bud nuggets" in the lower left corner of pic 1 I dig very little trash. I never did use the Meter that come with it because with the expense and time of getting out hunting I just wanted to jump out of the truck and get honkin and diggin.
I do like Minelabs and think I could even do my style of hunting with one of the x-terras.

That is quite an interesting hoard you've got there, Silver.
Always a different look from various places.

I have never run with my discrimination all the way up...
and can't imagine how you found what you did with that setting.

There must be a lot I don't know about a Sovereign!

Know what you mean about the peacefulness in the woods...

I spent a lot of time out in the mountains, here.

But I had to listen to a chainsaw most of the day... I was a logger.
And it was just as noisy working my claims with a dredge.

Glad your having fun out there. Got more pics?

Nice finds silverswede wtg. I like them all but the trap in the second pic is neat, the 2 fixed blade knives are scary, good thing you use a shovel. Congrats on the rings.

RMPTR : I know about those chainsaws. took most of my hearing on the muffler side. guess I should clear my version of full discrimination. On the Sov. I test with pull tabs and turn up til' they won't read at all. lose nickles and some rings but oh what a pleasure when most hits are interesting stuff. The nickles in the pic. are usually eyeballed or I've hit a pocket spill and go over it with no disc. Pocket spills are quite common in campsites as you might know if you've ever tried to sleep on the ground with a pocket full of change. A pic. for you of my public land search area.

EDDE: the traps...A badly damaged Blake & Lamb #3 jump from about 20's or 30's probably just took on some farm machinery. but I like to show it to kids and tell them the animal that did this to it still lives in this area. It and the # 1 long were actually found out behind the barn(an old barn).

Re: Silverswede's campground/hunting camp finds with Minelab XS2APRO

treasurehunterNY: Yes one of the knives is really quite scary. The small stainless steel one is called a "neck pick" that scabbard next to it clips inside the shirt collar in back so if a mean druggie starts to scratch his head, look out! It may have belonged to a bunger by the name of Tuggle who stabbed his 16 year old step-daughter several times in one of those campsites. He was apprehended and is serving life +++. local S.O. said I could keep it as the case is closed and I'M sure the family wouldn't want it.
The other knife is an old hunting knife that has a brass part on it that was supposed to be a 1/2 dollar....dumb detector.

Hi Silver,

Nice spot.

Thanks!

I just kinda ...dwelled... on it for a bit. :)

Probably quite a bit of snow there now, but very nice to look at the picture.
