What should I use to cut a viewing window

Just wondering what to use to make a proper window?

What I did when I was doing lapidary was to make a straight cut with a lapidary saw, exposing about one square inch of the cut off piece. Next I would grind and polish with progressively finer grits to 14,000, which would give anything that could polish out an extreme shine.

Why go to 14,000 grit? That was the best I could do, so I did.

The widmanstatten pattern would begin to show at about 2000 grit in many cases, but was exceptional with anything finer than 10,000.

If the widmanstatten pattern emerged, a dilute nitric acid solution would be applied after final polish. The pattern would pop out wonderfully.

I have to say that of the hundreds of suspected meteorites brought to me, most were common terrestrial rocks. Most of those were obviously not meteorites, even to an amateur like myself.

How many actual meteorites did I help identify by cut and polish? Maybe ten, tops.
