rocks that float in water

I found some kind of pumice rocks in several parks in Tecumseh Mi they are high in metal content,they drive my metal detector crazy, but are not magnetic. they float in water and are covered in tiny silver specks. they appear to be of volcanic rock dark black in color.any one have an idea how they got here?

might have very well came from yellowstone, they say last time it exploded it actually send rock and debris into space, plenty close enough for some to land here is my guess
