Is it common for a buckle to have six pointed stars?

I don't know much about buckles but what i can say is that it appears you have a Model 1851 Sword Belt Plate. I have seen these plates with both five pointed and six pointed stars. I don't know if someone with more expertise can give you more information. Sorry it wasn't more info but I hope maybe it helps a little.
