Found this in a wooded area that hasn't had any homes on it at least for the last century. Just outside of downtown Brandon, MS where lots of troops came through. Is it old? And id ideas?

What is the profile like? It looks like a snapped off hoe blade

I can't think of the name of the tool. It would have had a wooden handle, like a broom stick with a notch in it across the top. Used as a cutting tool for leather, tobacco, cane etc.. Just a guess. Good luck.
