Found this in a corn Field in Virginia, I think it was a picket camp site. This was 1980 so my memory is not as sharp as it used to be, nor is my aching back! I was with two other detecting buddies. Randy's dad had been detecting this site for years and told me to work down by the creek, I decided to go up top on this hill and found this plate next to a rusty piece of Iron, the signal was iffy but I dug and was very happy I did. Too bad the back side is thrashed, I am told it could be repaired and re-pored with new lead. I figure it looks just great as is.
