Typically the E-Trac is resetting in the presence of iron. The CTX can do this too - it can go silent for 20 secs or more. While silent it is dead to everything.

Are you using semi auto or manual sensitivity? It does make a difference in iron infested ground. Ky. Ed I typically use manual but my machine will tolerate this better than auto. Auto makes changes too quickly for me to hear those tiny good signals. Sometimes it will reset the threshold sound when manual does not do it so quickly. The deviation of ground targets are so important in deep masked targets. The Minelab Slimline sometimes is so unstable you have to use semi auto to hunt better. MY Minelab Explorer 11 is very stable in semi auto. KY. Ed
