    Dallas County Missouri Battles/Skirmishes

There is a tiny village in Dallas County Missouri called Charity. I just recently heard that there was a small battle that took place there. I was wondering if anyone has any information as to the validity of this story. I have been researching and can't come up with anything. Maybe it had a Battle name instead of referencing Charity? By the way, I have found some other information. Charity is sometimes also known as Hog Eye. God bless and thanks in advance!

    Re: Dallas County Missouri Battles/Skirmishes

I live over by that area, have all my life. I have never heard of any battles in that area. Any idea what kind of time your looking at? During Civil War, post Civil War? I have done some Md'n around the actual town, and am planning on going to the old reunion grounds this year. I'll ask a few people about any skirmishes, and see if anyone knows anything and let ya know though.

    CHARITY/HOGEYE

HOGEYE and CHARITY are the same location, Charity is the official

name of the town founded by Josiah SHARICK, and named for

Charity ANGLIN. Through a feud with Josiah and another gentleman

of the town, the town was split in half down the main street, with

one side being called Hogeye and the other Charity. Charity

(ANGLIN) SHARICK was the postmaster and her husband Josiah owned the general store. (Clarence Hunt)

Located in the southwest corner of the county, but the exact map

    location is not determined.

    NIANGUA COUNTY -
DEAD NAME – This was the original name for Dallas Co., when it

was established in 1842. The name was changed in 1844. (GBS)
