Bein' near-deaf, I don't listen to music very often, and when I do it's
got to be songs I know from when I was young and know all the lyrics
to, otherwise I have no idea what their singing.

Heading home from town the other day I turned on the "Classic Rock"
station, and on came an old Deep Purple favorite from the 70's. Guess
it was just the mood I was in, 'cause when I stopped at a light a teenager
in the car next to me had a completely shocked look on his face...

Guess he'd never seen a white haired old man rockin' out to some
real music!

Rock on !
I know the feeling. I had a couple kids pull up next to me playing something dreadful thru some ABSOLUTELY shot speakers. They had it cranked up. I put down my window and let loose with Smoke on The Water, sounded good on my system in my Corvette. Needless to say, they turned theirs down.

With the classic lineup of Blackmore, Paice, Lord, Glover and Gillam, DP was arguably the best hard rock band yet. Of course, that was the Golden Era for rock music - literally dozens of superb groups from Great Britain and some good ones from the USA too.
