FOUND THIS 1788 VT COPPER LAST MONTH AT AN OLD COLONIAL INN CELLAR HOLE.PICTURE ON THIS POST SHOWED UP WAY LARGER THAN ORIGINAL PHOTO? COIN IS SO MUCH NICER LOOKING THAN THE PHOTO SHOWS.

Think it's common (Ryder 27) but Nice! Very true, that condition is hard to photograph well.

That one has great detail, I was hoping for you it was one of the rare varities, but after looking at them, it is as IP thought a Ryder 27, Common type. :( But, despite the surface corrosion, what details!!!!! That is a nice one for sure.

What a great find! As everyone else already stated, there is great detail on the coin!

I resized the pic, and adjusted the contrast just a bit to bring out more of the detail.

Beautiful coin. :o I am partial to the Vermont coppers because the first copper i was able to I.D. with absolute certainty was the one in my avatar. It will always be my favorite. Congrats on your find. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

yep,it also produced a 1807 large cent.a few buttons and a 1906 v-nickel.

yes,my mistake.they are original coins .but some were struck on planchets that were previously say a king george copper or nova constellatio's.i think he's reffering to they resemble british coinage.with the likeness of king george on the obverse and seated person with shield on reverse.

ok,here is what he was referrring to.
the seated lady on the back is almost identical to our us colony coins.
