My best find to date, Roman artifact of jupiter.
I found it in march. What I thought was a large clump of slag is really over two thousand years old.

What a fantastic find, if it is actually old, and not a modern reproduction.
I think you should bring it to a museum and let them investigate the find.
They will also be the best to know how to preserve the find.

If its bronze & disease free, it needs no preservation. Not sure its over 2000 years old or 1600

Re: My best find to date, Roman artifact of jupiter.
I is real, I found it in a wooded area along side a old roman road (perfect place to set up camp after a long day of traveling in the bronze age). The chances of some one putting a reproduction out there is more remote than finding the real thing.

Exactly, but only in the West in the Eastern Empire it effectively continued for many hundreds of years

OK, here is some info on your flat backed Bronze Head. Most likely 100-200AD. Box or furniture fitting.
