Great start Tom, it takes some a lot longer to find their 1st silver , my 1st coin was a merc, @ 3 months I was lucky and found an1877 seated dime, it took almost 1 1/2 years till I got my first barber dime!

Thanks Shawn. The Barber was the first silver that I found. It was really exciting. I obviously have no seated coins, but I am looking out for them as hard as I can. It's all good, I really enjoy the hunt, and that is what really counts! GL&HH!

That is an excellent start, Tom. Now that you're swinging that new Deus I anticipate your success rate will improve. I had 5 silvers through May 15th when I got my Deus. Since May 16th I've found 14 silver coins including that 1899 Barber quarter and the 1944 Canadian quarter I showed you yesterday. Oh, and the 1911 V nickel which doesn't count towards the silver totals. Keep looking for good places. That is the key. GL and Keep swinging.

Awesome job! My first silver was a barber dime. I started MD ing last summer, and didn't realize I wouldn't see many more barbers. I now have 3, but plenty of Mercs and Rosies. Keep it up! These darn honey-do lists are stopping me from getting out like I want to! HH- Chuck

I was able to score 5 more silvers in the last 10 days... granted I was off of work a few days, so I had time to go hunt. Awesome new coins include '34 Walker, '20 Mexican 50 Centavos, '45 Nickel, Merc and a Rosie.

Nice job.

I have double that this year, but it has taken me all year so far and I probably have hunted 40-50 times.

Thanks Goldnugget! They are still out there, however, spread a bit thinly these days. The scarcity makes them seem more valuable... however, I would have loved to have hunted in the "good old days". I have hunted just a little over on the west side of town. I live in Mint Hill, so I usually hunt in that area, old schools and old houses have produced the silvers for me.

Thanks Pointman. I just got started MDing at the beginning of 2014. Started in January with a Bounty Hunter... then switched to AT Pro at the end of February... it took me a few weeks to get the hang of the AT Pro... then found my first silver on April 5th.... The AT Pro found 10 silver dimes... then I switched to the Deus about a month ago. I go out after work for a couple of hours, and on the weekends. All in all, I am happy with my results... I'm just not satisfied... I WANT MORE! Maybe I am just a greedy child.

How do the ATP and the Deus compare? Nice finds so far. You still have a lot of hunting time left in the year too.:icon_thumright:

I was just getting getting comfotable with the AT Pro, when I switched to the Deus. The AT Pro is an awesome machine, the guys on Diggers wouldn't use it, if it wasn't! I don't have a lot of experience with different machines, but for the price, the AT Pro really worked well for me.

The Deus cost me more than twice what the AT Pro did... so, we would assume that it is twice as good... right? Sorta right? Maybe...

Here are the pros:
The Deus is light, the lightest of all, it is really easy to swing. No elbow or shoulder fatigue. You have to try it to believe it.

The Deus is wireless, one of my biggest gripes with the AT Pro is that there is a wire between the headphones and machine, for me, that wire was a nightmare. Too long and it gets caught on everything imaginable, too short and the headphones are getting pulled off when you go to the ground to dig. You can use earbuds, back phones or head phones... all wirelessly with the Deus.

The collapsible shaft is pretty cool, you can "shrink" the length down to about 30" in 2 seconds. It gets into and out of the car with ease.

The Deus is fast, you can really cover some ground, because the recovery speed is so fast.

The cons:
The Deus is not waterproof. I am always scared of getting the thing "too" wet.

The Deus is light... I am a bit heavy handed and tend to break things that are not robustly built.

The Deus is kind of expensive.

All in all, I like the Deus. It has found some good stuff, however, I am rarely satisfied... and always wondering.

Thanks Old Dude. Hope all is well, and you keep that little CJON on the straight and narrow!

Thanks ringking...I do the best that I can... however, it pales in comparison to all of those Walkers that you have. GL&HH!
