Here are four hand-cut gems cut by Doc at Doc's Rocks Gem Mine in Blowing Rock, N.C..
My partner & I found these stones; not in a mine, but in a stream (except for the Ethiopian Opal) and had them cut at the gem mine.

Ethiopian Opal .90 ct. 6mm Cab Cut - Oil/Resin

North Carolina Emerald .65 ct. 7x5mm Oval Cut - Untreated

North Carolina Ruby 1.10 ct. 7x5mm Oval Cut - Untreated

North Carolina Black Sapphire .95 ct. 7x5mm Oval Cut - Untreated

All of these gems are natural and untreated. The Black Sapphire is interesting! Black Sapphire is actually a very, very DEEP blue that appears black as night!

Thanks for looking! :occasion14:

Beautiful stones, beautifully cut! :icon_flower::blob5::icon_flower: I lived 40 years in Virginia, and decades ago my mom & dad, my kids who were about 8 & 10 years old then, & I marveled on seeing at a rock-&-gem show an entire intact 4-foot high huge vug full of large North Carolina emerald crystals. Spectacular quality! North Carolina rocks rock! That sight inspired my mom & dad to keep on with their VA rock-hounding & jewelry-making, & also created 3 more generations of rockhounds & jewelry crafters. You guys seem very well-organized in combining business with fun! Andi

Thanks! We're in the beginning stages of bringing our gem mining hobby to fruition. It's so much fun! Gems, minerals & specimens just fascinate me. I post a lot of interesting finds over in the Rocks/Gems forum. Lately, I've been conducting tests of Rubies under long-wave ultraviolet lighting. Thanks for the kind words! -Luke
