I live near what was the old carson city trail in california, I've found every pick and shovel and square nail ever lost during the gold rush.
Well bout a month ago this popped up outta the ground a 1873cc 25c with arrows one of only 50 (now 51) known to exist. PCGS graded it genuine
rimdmg xf-details. (i nicked with my tool getting it out of hardpan) I'm looking for what members think the value might be.
Thanks for the chance to show my find.

Quite a find. So many factors I think anyone placing a value would just be taking a wild guess. If it were mine from what I've seen I'd likely put a reserve at least 10k, and let the bidding sort it out from there. Just so hard to say how the minor rim damage and pitting drops the net grade/value of such a rare coin. Heck maybe you'd still get close to book price if they rarely come up. It certainly has eye appeal going for it, which does count for something, especially when you are talking dug coins. I'd try to find as many recent sales as you could... would tell you a lot.

Crazy nice find. To me it would be priceless until absolutely necessary to sell it but your just curious of what the value would be I'm thinking anyway!

Looks like the book price for XF40, without rim damage, is $26,000. However, it is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.

My red book is several years old and says 21k... think I'd have to reserve with at least 15k. :) Of course if it were mine I'd care less about throwing numbers out and focus on being greedy and squeezing out all I could!

Might have taken 20 years but probably a find of 20 life times.

It would be a banner if it was not your first post and the find was not a month old. That being said still a rare coin and appreciate you showing us.

I wouldn't sell but then again I would want a good idea of what they would pay for it for future reference. Congrats!

That is one gorgeous coin, congratulations. Because of its rarity it will be a fantastic long-term investment. I hope you never need to sell it.

Find was made before member join TreasureNet which automatically makes it ineligible for banner, all banners must be found after member joins TN, not before..
