I'm a newb' to this forum (first posting!), but I've been around detecting since the 70's (I'm 52 now),,, except for when I hung it up for high school, college and frat parties:headbang::headbang::headbang:.

I've always had a machine during my downtime, but over the past 5 years or so, I've been "full on".

My best find to date happened last September.

An "Indian Princess" $1 coin. Just a little girl, but hey,,, gold is gold!

It was found on a Canadian beach, in the gnarly rocks, about 5" down. I nearly pooped myself. I was so surprised it wasn't ground down to dust.

It's not uncommon to find older U.S. coins up here, since Canadian currency was just started in 1858. Before that it was British etc...

Cheers and happy hunting folks. I look forward to chiming in now and again.

Hopefully A2coins.
Nothing beats the rush.
I was expecting a coin by the sound it made on the Surfmaster, but not that coin. :O
I goes to show you, a little research, and beating the odds in the "game of inches".
Good luck and happy hunting!
