Let's See Your Top 4 Silver Finds

Since I have little time to detect I'd love to see everybody's 4 favorite silver finds. Coins, relics it makes no difference. But if you have a silver buckle we are not friends. I've found more than 20 shoe buckles and I've never even sniffed a damn fragment of silver. Well here's a few of mine. This was tough. I hope to see lots of others favorite silver finds

#1. 1652 Pine Tree Shilling NOE 29



2. 1749 Mexico mint Pillars and Globe 1 Real. This beauty was found at a mill site that one of my ancestors owned with his business partner. They only had a cabin there. No foundation and no sign that anything was ever there. It took me a very long time to find this site. When I finally did it produced more than 20 pre 1750 coins. This being the only silver. Most were in amazing condition which was due to several factors. The cabin was on the edge of a river with well draining beautiful soil. Perhaps the biggest factor was the fact that this site was long gone by 1770 or so. So these coins did not circulate for very long. Most of the coins were dated 1749 and were shipped from England to Massachusetts Bay as reimbursement for assistance with the Lewisburg expedition in Nova Scotia.



#3. Colonial Silver Scottish Luckenbooth Brooch. Being Scottish and Irish this was on my dream list as I always wanted to find one but thought the chances were slim. I stumbled upon this site looking for a much earlier site and a terrible signal produced this beauty. I was a very happy boy the day I found this awesome relic


#4. 1772 Real Converted into a Cufflink or Button. Love this Spanish that was turned into a cufflink or a button. Also found a Rev War era sling buckle there. Rev War camp maybe? I will likely never know but I'm glad somebody dropped this

That silver buckle makes me very very jealous. I've found well over 20 shoe buckles and never sniffed a fragment of a silver one. That knee buckle is amazing

It was my very first one. Talk about getting hooked on colonial relics!

Ugh, its not even close. Those in the colonial zones have about 300 years advantage on most. I've dug tons of silver over the years but its not even worth comparison to the things posted here.

Coins had no use in the fur trade, which was our colonial history.

This cache of 4 silver trade brooches were guarded by the thickest bush ever.....



The Robert Cruikshank star brooch was big for me as star brooches always seemed to be cut up into single points (perforated) and hung as jewelry or tassels for garb.



This next silver cache contains the three remaining on my top four silver finds list.
It all has been catalogued and stored in a safety deposit box so, the pictures I have are limited.

Always wanted to find a big ear wheel and this one's special.....



Dreamed of finding a thicker silver Lorraine cross and got my wish in two pieces!



Here's the other side showing the maker mark.....



I apologize for all that other stuff in the photo like bracelets, ear-bobs, crosses, and brooches.
Had to show them because of a poor single photo of my #1 top silver find which is a silver gorget....



This first signal was a "RC" large circular brooch, then came the earwheel and by then I was flipping out!
When I tried next to the hole and got an even bigger blast, the thoughts "please be a gorget" actually came into my head and there it was!
Then I got to dig a whole lot more!

So happy you posted your finds on this thread. I am blown away by these incredible colonial trade items. I consider my Luckenbooth brooch one of my most cherished relics....though it pales in comparison to all of your finds. That gorget is really incredible man. It's all incredible! I don't even know where to start. Just really happy that you added to this thread.
