I like to check areas I have permission to metal detect or bottle dig right after all the snow melts off .I often find new dumping areas when the winter snow has mashed down the leaf cover .On a recent scouting trip I saw some broken glass and pottery that I had not be aware of before .Some of it looked old enough that I thought it might lead to a few decent bottles .So as soon as I was able to go back I decided to do a quick dig . I was turning up mostly broken glass that was not all that old but I did get a bottle or two that I kept .Then the small pistol showed itself .I stopped to check it out and went back to digging .It was not too long after that I found the cylinder It is rusted beyond finding any clues as to what it might be .But it was a complete surprise based on what I expected to find in that area. 001.JPG 005.JPG
