Got to hit 2 sites which does not happen too often. The first site I hit solo and was getting skunked after 2 hours and was honestly feeling a bit grumpy as I know good stuff has been found there. On the way back out to the car I was about 20 feet from where I parked and BAM a screaming signal that I thought for sure was a pull tab. GOLD BABY! My first gold coin ever and a nice $10 piece!

Thank you all very much. My brain went blank and I just was in shock when I found it. Last signal of the day and just 20 feet from the car on my way out. On the way to the site that day I thought there has got to be a gold coin out there somewhere. BAM!

I hope it wasn't you who damaged the rim I would not be able to live with myself! Nice rare find. Next time remember to take a photo of it coming out of the dirt!

Thats Amazing!

What machine did you use? What was the signal it gave you? What are the GPS coordinates?

I am confident it was already damaged. If I had done those scratches the damage would be brighter gold like the day it was made. The tarnish on those scratches matched the rest of the coin. My mind went numb when I saw it and I totally forgot to take a pic in situ. Duh!

Makro Racer. Signal jumped around between pull tab and silver coin due to mineralization in the dirt. GPS coordinates are 38.8977° N, 77.0365° W. Be careful it was a permission dig.

Wow, beautiful coin! Just nominated for banner. Too bad it isn't in Today's Finds, it'd be on the banner already no doubt.
