Hello Folks,
5 years ago I built a house on land that used to be part of a much larger farm. I knew old farms are a great place to search so I went out and bought a new metal detector thinking id casually use it here and there. I started researching old maps and discovered my property was a farm that was owned by a prominent local family going back to the Revolutionary war. Im thinking in theory I could find some cool things. Never in a million years could I have predicted what Id find. It all started with flat buttons. I began pulling them out of the ground each time Id search. To date i've pulled out about 30 of them, but no coins. The best button to date is an 1800 - 1820 Naval Officers button. That was until July 4th. It was the end of the day and I was losing light. I then hit a solid 57 on my V3I. I started digging and the pin pointer found nothing. I dug more and more and then bam. There is was 10 inches down. It was a very thin odd shaped disk that screamed HAMMERED. Well here it is, an early 4 Maravedis. I have no clue how or why this is in my yard. Im on a mission now to find out as much about this area as possible. Where there is one cool find, there are more.
