I’ve only been out a handful of times with my simplex plus so far but was elated when I found these two military buttons on the same strip of grass. I believe the larger is a Prussian button and the other is a U.S. shield military. I’m new to this all so if anyone has specific information on them I would greatly appreciate it!

Nice find and Save on the buttons. Your Eagle Shield button is a general service button that was used during the War of Northern Aggression. The other button I'm not familiar with, but looks both Foreign and older. Well Done. Maybe someone here can get it ID'd for you.

I found this not too far from presquille provincial park on Lake Ontario. War 1812 a ship building yard was stationed there as well as some military presence. I am assuming this us a military button?

You might have better luck posting in the what is it forum, my guess is it is a civilian button but still very old and probably from the time period you mentioned.

I found a similar one on a different thread... read CannonBallGuys explanation. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/what/339973-flat-button-but-never-seen-backmark.html

Thanks very much yes I have so far been in my 2 acre backyard it seems there has been some activity here at some point in time. Would this be US military?
