    bittersweet finds ,seated lady\officers buckle

    Found these two gems at an old foundation near my home. The home that once sat there must have burnt as these and other items I found have obvious heat/fire damage.The half is an 1876 and has a triangular hole in it.Maybe from an old soldering iron?I believe the buckle dates around 1855. Great finds but a little less character would have been nice.

    I'm new and I can't wait to go searching around old property. I bet you wish your finds were in better condition but cool finds either way! the coin looks like someone used a nail to punch that hole in it. What state are you in if you don't mind me asking?

    SoMuchFun;....Im a Michigander and Im new on the MDing hook as well. Long enough though to appreciate even burnt offerings.(Ive had my share of empty pocket days as well).In the land of endless beaches you should fare well.Keep the faith and slow your pace......Jo

    That is a beautiful buckle and a once in a lifetime find. You know you can send them off to have them restored ? See my before and after shots of my plate. The man can do wonders :
