'Ancient Trails' Along The River

I went walking 'Along The River' today', where i used to swim & fish, & hunt, but I was a 'latecomer', the trails were used by 'wild Game', Indians, & later by the settlers, & soldiers of the Civil War, long before our generation.
I jumped a 'woodcock,' saw a rabbit run in a hole, found Indian flint, cow skull, wild pig skull, 'Huge thorns', red bud trees, rock in root.
Peaceful day 'Out In Nature'.

Re: Along The River

Outstanding! Looks like a dangerous place to place your foot down wrong... skulls and thorns and crazy roots!

What a beautiful tree though...

Not to mention 'two Copperheads', i dug out of a dump.
I'll post that later, the tree is a 'Redbud', state tree of Oklahoma.

Redbuds & dogwoods...always my favorites. Yipes, those thorns look terribly dangerous...don't like the copperhead at all.

Mine too, the thorns are the largest I've ever seen, if they were on my land, i'd (cut & burn) them.
The snakes were in a dump i was digging. >:(

Being out in the woods is the best place to be, nobody to bother you out there. Those thorns look pretty dangerous! Nice photos fossis!

Nothing better than the peace and quite you have in those walks in the woods. Don't like the copper head though. Great picts.

Excellent pictures. Looks like an awesome place for a walk. When you say huge thorns you're not kidding, what kind of tree/bush is that?

Looks like a black locust to me. I was digging in a dump yesterday and found a nice little ground rattler=pygmy rattle snake. I didn't bother him and he didn't bother me. The redbud is so pretty.the dogwood are blooming here too.I would love to take that walk with you. I love going off and walking though the woods and hills with no destination, just enjoying nature.

They are the 'biggest' i've seen, got one (smaller) in my leg as a child, it hurt all night.
I'll get back to you on what it's called.

Our 'Black Locust's' don't have thorns near that large, & the trees are in full bloom here.
I can't seem to stay out of the woods. ;D
