Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssay it's not there!

Just got back from walking the dogs, on our return trip through the grassy field. Here is a little friend I spotted before the dogs did & the wife about had a bird!

Looked on Alabama's outdoor website at the snakes here & in my snake book, can't ID the little booger, anyone have an idea? About 4 to 5 feet long. orangy in color & note the little yellow stripes.

Chris

Cyn, it totally creeped me out! It's a good thing we saw it 2 days before we are leaving here or I never would have been walking around out there! I know he's harmless, but they just give me the willies........ :help:

Kids have been asking for one as a pet for quite a while now. Almost had us talked into it until the guy at the pet store told them they would have to feed it mice. Since they have mice as pets, they didn't like that idea. ;D

lol My daughter just HAD to have a snake....I told her no....she got her teacher to give her a science project with a bull snake and had her grandma bring her home with that dadgum snake....I was furious...she wanted me to take her to get feeder mice for it....I refused....grandma took her....she fed it ONE time then decided she didn't want that snake anymore and kept the other feeder mouse as a pet. ugh reptiles and rodents...NOT pets in my house! lol

Chris those are some great snake pics there, and as for me I want to see them long before they see me. And much rather they hear me 1st and go far the other way! :icon_sunny:

Come on now girls, snakes are our friends, they help control the rat population.

Pretty! They don't bother me as long as I know they're there. When that boy of mine was growing up at times he would have as many as 30 snakes in the house. He's pretty much a reptile expert now. He has the equipment that enables him to 'sex' snakes. I'll see if he'll let y'all borrow it if you want. It's a delicate procedure. I don't make this stuff up, really.

Yes it is a corn snake indeed. People actualy pay money to keep them as pets. They are not aggressive. Take care friend.
