Hi Molly, Nice pics. That first one sure stands out against the water. Here are some more for you.
#1 is an oil tanker docked a the refinery across the river in Sarnia , Ont.
#2 is one of the lake freighters that pass through all during the shipping season.
#3 is the parking lot side of the World Headquarters for Boatnerd, com that bbqbull told you about.
#4 is the front side facing the river. The building is about 100 ft long with a glass wall facing the river.
There is a row of tables along the window. The tables are there to use as you please. Some people play
cards, some just watch the boats go by, whateveryou want to do, They do have a coffee and dognut bar and the
coffee is cheap. It is a great place with sidewalks along the river and benches. Also a long parking lot
along the river to park and sit in your car and watch the activity on the water.

Ray

Hello, Molly, Here's one more. we were down to the river one day during the early winter when this freighter was
coming downbound and had to make a U-turn in the river so he could dock across the river. In the process of turning
he almost ran his stern end into the bank on our side.

Greek tanker Angistri steaming upriver in the Mississippi at about mile 127.1, nearing Bonnet Carré Anchorage.

Its the sheer size that amazes me.

This was home for over 3 years. Visited many ports and launched many aircraft. Lots of memories; good and bad. :D :'(

Great shots!
Would make a Somali pirate drool!

No, just kidding!

I lived by a seaport once and it's a real pleasure to see the big ships.
Makes the world go-round.
Thanks for all the postings.

I've got more than a few pics I've found interesting, for one reason or another.

Is this what you wanted to see, Molly?

Or would you prefer I post them on another thread?

Or should I just be posting pics I've taken myself?

Growin up in Michigan I can remember visiting the S00 lochs. I can remember as a kid my uncle pointing out one familiar freighter...The Edmund Fitzgerald(Mighty Fitz) that sunk near whitfish bay a few years later. I can remember her coming through and the guys waving at us....29 men lost their lives In that November storm... The brave men who were lost that night:
Captain Ernest M. McSorley Michael E. Armagost Fred J. Beetcher Thomas D. Bentsen
