Went fishing yesterday and between the 4 of us(my husband, me and two daughters) we caught close to 20 bass! My youngest daughter caught her first fish and was soooooo EXCITED :D!
We were fishing in ponds and using a variety of baits. We noticed there were a lot of blue dragonflies around the ponds so we started using blue worms and this seemed to be the ticket( grandpa always told me to use something similar to what you were seeing around the ponds--either in color or shape)! The fish started hitting hard on the blue worms and were laying right next to the bank, in the moss. I think maybe they are spawning right now because when we cleaned them, we found eggs.
I caught one fish that weighed 5 LBS!!! Her mouth was so big my husband could fit his fist in it!!!
We had a FEAST for supper last night ;D! Nothing better than fresh fish and fried tators!!
We also saw lots of wildlife and wildflowers yesterday!
Here's some pictures:
1)Big bass(5 lbs)
2)Big bass with fist in its mouth
3)Stringer of fish
4)Tom Turkey strutting for his hens
5)jack rabbit
6)jack rabbit with ears down
7)White-tail doe
8)horny toad
9)baby Killdeer(we call them Kill-dee)
10)Blue Wild Indigo(flower)
Kind regards and thanks for looking~~~~~sandcreek4

Lots of stuff to "cap" in those pictures.

Make sure you pack enough heat to eradicate all of the scum (specifically the Horned Lizard) next time!
;D Too funny, plehbah! We were "packing" a .410 pistol for snakes and other varmints but we just couldn't justify shooting that baby horny toad ::).
Thanks for your comments, Plehbah!

Nice catch, I love prespawn bass fishing  As for grandpa's advice, it is dead on. If I go to a new lake or pond the first thing I do is try to see what kind of little critters are around for the fish to feed on. Works like a charm.

Thanks Charlie! I love bass fishing, too! And this 5lb fish is as big as I've ever caught---she put a bit of a strain on my rod and reel :D I can't imagine catching a 10lb or more.

Hello, sandcreek,
These are a great bunch of shots. you must have had a wonderful day. That is great. Good for you. you reminded me
of an experience we had. Several years ago when my wife's sister's boys were just little guys they came up to visit
us in northern Michigan. The kids had never been fishing yet so we took them all out to a nearby lake in the woods to
show them the enjoyment of fishing. We were standing and fishing off shore. As it turned out their youngest boy who
was about 4 or 5 years old at the time, caught the first fish. I put it on a stringer and he was all done fishing
right then. He amused himself the rest of the time there except when we had our picnic lunch, just walking along
back and forth in knee deep water taking his fish for a walk. And to this day he still does a lot of fishing.
You have some good wildlife around there, too.
Thanks for sharing your outing with us.

Thanks Ray for the kind words! We enjoy going fishing and taking the kids and I just think you can't go wrong when you take a child to the woods and show them all of Gods many wonders!! Its something they'll always remember.
Glad you liked the pictures!!

looks like you have your own zoo
with all of those animals running around.
those are some nice largemouth bass !!
I guess it does look like a zoo, huh?! All the animals seemed to be out and about on Sunday. We've had so much rain here in Oklahoma that I'm sure everything was happy to finally see the sunshine :icon_sunny:! And the water is finally warming up in the ponds so the fish were really biting good. Thank you allen for your comments!

Thanks Bassfish! We caught a lot of small 1pounders that we threw back but I just couldn't throw that big one back! ;D The pond I caught her in has a lot of big bass in it--my daughter caught one a couple of years ago in it that weighed over 6 lbs.!!

It's surprising how much you can see when you take the time.
That's so true, johnnycat! My daughter loves to photograph wildlife, and every 5 minutes or so she was saying "STOP!" and taking more pictures. Everything just seemed to be posing for her .
Thanks for your comments!

Good to see the fish are biting, sandcreek. We're heading out to Oklahoma tomorrow or the next day, so maybe I'll catch a few this time. It still irks me I now have to buy an 'out-of-state' license, though!

Nice pictures! My son and I both got our turkeys a couple weeks ago.
That's kinda a touchy subject around here :D--my daughter shot at one but he was a little far out of range. Oh well there's always next year . Thanks for the comments, Sidevalve45! Glad you and your son got turkeys!
