Nice day out in the mountains

    Hey all,

Been pretty busy lately and haven't got to post here much, but wanted to post some nice pics of the day out, hangin' with Fossis.

First we went to a yard sale out by me, the older couple used to have a rock shop and had some good deals. They've had a sale once a month for the last 3 months, and we've gone every time.

Then we headed out to some private property in SW Arkansas, to do a little panning and rockhounding. It was a great day to be out, had a nice chat with the landowner and found some neat stuff.

    Here's Fossis doing some panning:

A cool little waterfall down the creek:

Me under a tree washout, overhanging the creek:

Some of our rock finds, in the water to highlight the colors:

    A couple more pics...

A cool dark rock with marble-like crystal lines:

A well worn and creek tumbled quartz rock, with dark mineral inclusions. The spot in the center could be silver or platinum.

Good day to be out, always have a great time with my bud Mr. Fossis.

A special thanks to Tom the landowner, for letting us hunt around on his awesome land. What a great spot to live.

Nope, I didn't either. Of course he knows what he's doing, and I just slosh the stuff around in the pan so it appears that I know what I'm doing.

We found a few specks of 'flower Gold', but had a great outing in Mother Nature's garden.

That's a good pic of Fossis there, Scotto. I need to get him up here on the Arkansas, Blue, or Snake River to show me how it's done. All I found so far is it's way more harder work than most folks think.

I am no expert, I just watched a video on panning, & was given a lesson by a Colorado panner.
Gold, Silver, Manganese, Turquoise, have all been found in Western AR, (Polk CO), the Gold & Silver mines never produced enough to last for long, but I know a man with 30 gallon barrels full of Turquoise, & the locals used to sell Manganese at the train station by the tub & basket full, the old mines have been covered by bars to protect the bats.
    You're right, "It's hard work"
