I drove down to a local river to take some pic's & enjoy the scenery, I saw crawdads, minnows, Gar, turtles, & a snake in a tree, mulberrys, & butterflies, & broken insulators, & what I believe is a 'clinker' from the coal burning trains that crossed upstream years ago, plus a horseshoe in the eroded bank.

Some nice pics there. That is quite a variety of items o find along there. I like the view of the river, nice and peaceful-like.
Thanks for sharing your walk. It's a nice area to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

We pressure cooked some carp once cause that's all we caught and ate it. It was fish anyway, and we didn't choke on the bones. That boy of mine swears that gar is great, but I haven't tried it yet. They may both be 'trash' fish, but they are a whole lot of fun to catch.

Fun to catch, & good to eat if you're hungry enough I guess.

Thanks, you're probably right, we call these 'mussels', & this was just a tiny baby. :P
The indians must have liked them, they left piles of shells all over the SE states, & used them for many things, I have one that was drilled & tied to a handle & used for a hoe, & a pic of one of the largest I ever found.
