This Garter Snake was out sunning himself near Mt. Diablo, California.

He was more than 2' long, which is big for a Garter Snake.

They generally live near water, and there is a reservoir nearby.

Cool snakes. We have the eatern here and when they mate in the ealry fall there can be hundreds in an area due to the phemones. i have seen hundreds is large balls
