I would recommend this place if y'all ever get up here. Head west at the stoplight in Buena Vista for about 5 miles then turn south on 344 for 3 miles. Good dirt road but washboarded in places. $17 bucks a night but lots of trees that offer the illusion of seclusion. Well maintained with toilets and potable water. The lake allegedly contains nice sized rainbow trout. I can testify it contained large numbers of fishermen. One caution; supposedly this area is at about 9500 ft. (Felt lower to me.) Flatlanders will find it takes a lot of effort walkin up hills. You may be surprised to find you have been living with an un-diagnosed heart defect. Limit the alcohol intake. We live at that altitude so no problem for us. Large amount of aspens in the canyon and looks like a killer place for fall foliage viewing.
