Have only had a few inches of snow here, but has been cold, so it doesn't melt very fast. There are bare patches, but the quail are shy and hang out in the sheltered places. Took these from my porch.
I have gotten soft myself. I used to hunt these, but never will again. ( Unless I'm starving. ) After you remove the feathers, there is not much left.I've hit two of those in flight with one shot with a 20 gauge bolt action once. Now I think I'd only pull a trigger on just pheasants if I ever go bird hunting again in my life. Wonderful shot and a much better way to target those guy imo these days. I really like the male in the 2nd picture.
Thanks Jim, I have moved to Kooskia, ID up north of you. Lots of them here.Really nice, Ron. We used to have a few quail over here, but I haven't seen one here in over 30 years. Really nice pics!
