Have only had a few inches of snow here, but has been cold, so it doesn't melt very fast. There are bare patches, but the quail are shy and hang out in the sheltered places. Took these from my porch.

I've hit two of those in flight with one shot with a 20 gauge bolt action once. Now I think I'd only pull a trigger on just pheasants if I ever go bird hunting again in my life. Wonderful shot and a much better way to target those guy imo these days. I really like the male in the 2nd picture.

I have gotten soft myself. I used to hunt these, but never will again. ( Unless I'm starving. ) After you remove the feathers, there is not much left.

Really nice, Ron. We used to have a few quail over here, but I haven't seen one here in over 30 years. Really nice pics!

I didn't realize that. Glad to see a place that has them in good numbers. I just assumed you were over in the southwest of Idaho. You guys up there have lots of turkeys, too...

I used to whistle to the bob whites when I was a boy in Kentucky and always chuckled when they would answer. Today, coyotes have become so prevalent that I doubt you hear them often now.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is trying to bring Bobwhite quail populations back to the state. Much of their habitat was converted to farmland.
