Kayaking out to a small spoil island in Tampa Bay....

Just taking a break and enjoying the view.

Find anything worthwhile with that detector? If nothing in the ground it sure looks like you found a little piece of paradise.

It was a nice view. I would have paid a couple of hundred dollars for a hammock...

I ended up finding about $1.45 in clad and a couple of shell casings. No silver coins.

This pic is concerning. I'd say it's an alligator slide, but this is salt.

I don't know of any salt water croc's up this way.

A maratime Sasquatch?

I'd put a trail camera up out there and find out for sure, except it's going to get stolen...

Thanks for the link Diggummup.

I was thinking seriously of hitting some of the spoiler islands here in the Gulf but was wondering about wildlife. Got a Kayak 2 weeks ago and getting in shape to hit some islands with in a few miles. Anyone know what hangs out on the smaller Gulf coast spoiler islands?? Rattlesnakes, Oh my!
Also heard that they stopped making spoiler islands in the 1970s, any truth? How old are they?

Alligators will definitely go in saltwater. The St. Mark's refuge south of Tallahassee has plenty in the salt marshes. Thing is they have to have a source of fresh water some where. If there is not a fresh water source close to that island it could very well be a croc. I would fear gators over crocs any day.
