Hey Aaron,

That isn't correct. Their mouths aren't dirty like that. You may be thinking of the Kamodo Dragon. Cottonmouths can "Dry Bite" (that is biting without injecting venom, as in a fear display). Their venom is Hemotoxinous. What that means is that the venom destroys every red blood cell it contacts (just like a rattler), and kills skin (necrotic). It is not as toxic as the rattlesnake, but can kill.
