It's a rainbow. The color doesn't show very well. The angle to the sun I guess. He has a huge one on for quite some time. I'd guess 5-7 pounds. It got caught up in the weeds and got off. Wore the boy's butt out!

We went a couple weeks ago. We went to a small lake near Shingletown, CA. We did find a salmon although it was spawned out. You can see it in the water in this pic. My grandson figured it was put there so people can take their picture with it and insisted I take his with it.
Also saw some turkeys and deer.
He has fished a lot but it was our first time fishing together where it was just him and I. It was great!
btw Fossis, thanks for the compliment. This is the grandson that has had many sugeries on his feet just so he could walk. Thank God and Shriners we are looking for a way to slow him down. ;)

Excellent series. I tip my hat to you PB for spending that quality time with him. Life anymore is so fast that a lot of kids don't get to experience what he has with you. Thanks for the posting I enjoyed taking a look.

my grandparents used to take me fishing when i was about your grandsons age, and to this day i can still remember those trips. it created a love of fishing and the outdoors that has stayed with me ever since. trips like that are about so much more than just fishing. he will remember these times for the rest of his life. :)
