Well it is called Poets Seat Tower. Except for the fact I am afraid of heights, there is not nuch explanation needed, enjoy, I did.

And change with hurried hand has swept these scenes

And change with hurried hand has swept these scenes:
The woods have fallen, across the meadow-lot
The hunter's trail and trap-path is forgot,
And fire has drunk the swamps of evergreens;
Yet for a moment let my fancy plant
These autumn hills again: the wild dove's haunt,
The wild deer's walk. In golden umbrage shut,
The Indian river runs, Quonecktacut!
Here, but a lifetime back, where falls tonight
Behind the curtained pane a sheltered light
On buds of rose or vase of violet
Aloft upon the marble mantel set,
Here in the forest-heart, hung blackening
The wolfbait on the bush beside the spring.

Wow! The view was worth the climb CG!!!! That is one pretty area you live in...I'm envious.

Interesting comment: After reading the placque, I was surprised to see Henry David Thoreau's name missing as a close friend, especially since Emerson and Hawthorne were listed.

Yeah Wes, I forgot how pretty it is up there, probably been 20 years since I was at the top of that tower. Thanks for the inspiration folks :).

I'm surprised too, Thoreau was born in 1817 died in 1862, and another local. Interesting.

Beautiful area Kim, you are very lucky to have such scenery in your area. What a shame I sent the ugly clouds your way, a blue sunny sky would have made your photos even better than they are now..

LOL, at first I thought your pics were going to be taken from inside the tower, but looks like you mustered enough nerve to go near the railings and take your shots. :)

I wish I could have had a sunny day too, but if I waited even a few more hours I may have missed it completely, the wind is supposed to pick up and be pretty gusty. It was sprinkling.

The hardest part was the last trek up, circular stair case to the top :o. Here take a look....

I'm out of breath just think about the climb. But it was worth the effort.

Beautiful. It seems like all the red maples are disappearing from my area, yours? I wonder why?

The yellow tree in my garden is  usally multi colored, this year.....it went from green to yellow. Normally it turns red, gold, yellow all at once. For the life of me I can't find the comparison picture  :-\.

I really believe the maples are still wanting to WOW us, but it takes water to get color, which we needed . Maybe next year. Lets hope for snow!
