Hiking down the canyon notice this rock cairn almost hidden up in the rocks on the east side. Told my son, that's a claim marker. So he wants to argue about that, but we go look, and under a rock wrapped in aluminum foil is the notice they filed back in 1953. Looks like it was left yesterday and most likely they were uranium prospectors. And yeah we very carefully wrapped that back up and replaced it. That last pic I would welcome your opinion on. It's cut with a steel chisel, so it's not pre-historic. I'm pretty familiar with a lot of the styles on up to historic Ute and Navajo, and it doesn't match up. I thought maybe at the best Spanish treasure markings, but probably new age hippies. Son might have nailed it as prop for one of the movies filmed here.
