Rock Removal

I stopped by a jobsite yesterday in the Black Canyon area of Colorado. They're getting ready to blast out a protruding portion of rock in order to make a nicer straighter road. First order is to get the high-lift perfectly level, as it will shut off and not run unless that is done. Then they will scale of all the loose boulders and rock by handheld rockdrills and explosives and begin to build a flat bench on top to then lift a larger track drill up on that flat bench and drill deep blast holes to shoot the bulk of rock that slated to be removed to make a much wider curve in the road. Sure was a pretty veiw below this jobsite.

Good deal. That may save someones life on that curve. Wont bother the wildlife much. Rocks been falling off those hills for millions of years.

That's the kind of project that's a win win for everyone. Road gets better, people make a good living doing the work. Don't mind tax money spent that way.

I think you must work for our local government, newnan man, cause that's what they tell us about the road project goin on here in the middle of Frisco, CO. Used to be a 10 minute drive home from work. Now sometimes it takes an hour, hour and a half, haha!

Yep! Nothing seems to improve the ever increasing motorists hitting the roads of Colorado that I've seen. Just gonna have to live with it I guess. Came down though Leadville and your neck of the woods around 5pm yesterday and sure was pleased to see all that rain coming down.

Yeah TR, we're gettin those monsoon rains now which helps the fire danger a lot. They should just get rid of any tourism promotion cause Colorado pretty much sells itself. They could spend that money on, I don't know, maybe more road construction, haha!

I was thinking how nice that needed rain would be at putting a bit of insurance against the hot and dry tinder of the forest. Only thing I've seen Colorado do on road expansions with I25 and I70 is add a fat hose to the old skinny hose leaving the same old bottle necks we've had for a long time now. I really believe they should recruit some of those Disney Imaginier folks. They can brainstorm up all kinds of awesome ideas and tear it all down and reconstruct a new and fantastic thing like magic in the blink of an eye.
