I've always enjoyed "the old road," here in California...
Actually, much of it follows the path of El Camino Real, which is just about as old as we get, here in CA.

Much of it is 16ft wide, poured concrete, with curbs on both sides.
There's bit's and pieces of it up and down the state, in some rather nice settings.

I often wanted to do more research on it, travel looking for nice photographs, and publish a book on it.

Then again, 10 years living near railroad tracks, I also should have taken the opportunity of photographing all the colorful grafitti that went by... Some of it was awesome!

There's cut off sections up and down the length of California... some in coastal areas, some inland.

Our new roads, built with far bigger equipment zip right by it, although they follow the same general path.

I enjoy seeing the different terrain you'all live in... sometimes very much different from our varieties.

It's all fun!

If you take a picture of a plastic car next to a rock, might as well take one in an avocado orchard!

Oh Gosh NO!

Stealing produce around here might be a capital offense!

Well, not really... but they WILL prosecute.

Fishin?
it's kinda slo...

Few years back, me and a couple other weekend commandos thought about getting a commercial license.
I even did some of the footwork...

The fish n game guy said, "you could go to monterey, pay all the fees, and get a license, but I couldn't guarantee you could use it because they are about to enact a moratorium on groundfishing."

One thing we don't have around here is young commercial fishermen...
It's a passing breed.
Sad situation.

Rmptr: where were you when you took that photo? I grew up in Solvang, on the other side of the mountain from the el Camino, but saw parts of it when it came into the Santa Ynez valley on the way to the Santa Ynez Mission. Nice photo.
