This is the ball playing hawk that lives in my back yard. I have named him Missile. He has a thing about chasing wiffle balls. I will throw or kick a white wIffle ball and he will pounce on it, then fly back to the fence or his tree.

That's what he is watching so intently in the picture.

Checked him out on a hawk identification site. He is a Red Shoulder Hawk. They live in woods near water, my back yard.

Best
Bill

My son came over to shoot video. Missile took off and headed to his favorite roost behind my house. He will land by me when I'm setting by the pool but trusts no one else. I started feeding him frogs when I cleaned them out of my pool. After a while he started watching me whenever I was in the yard. Then came the day with the ball. He even kicked it after he landed by it. If I can get him with the ball again I will try to get him on film.
Here are some more pix of Missile.

That is awsome to have a hawk hanging out in your yard. Beautiful shots, would love to see him with the ball.
