I am just starting out with an old Pioneer 505 that was given to me many years ago. I used it to look for some sprinkler heads in the yard and then put it up. I thought I would pull it out and actually learn how to use it. Found my first dime and an old fashioned pull tab in my yard. Woo Hoo!!! I am on a roll. I would like to get into detecting at the beach since I live 10 Min away. Wish me luck.

Welcome to TN and good luck.

Your going to have a problem with your detector in the wet sand due to the minerals in salt water. You will better off sticking to the dry sand...What beach are you close to?

I am around FWB/Destin. I will be using the 505 for the sand mostly. I was in the market for a new beach machine and then found a Excal II at a price I couldn't refuse. Hopefully it will be here this week.

To everyone else thank you for the welcome.
