Hello Everybody. The coinshooting bug has bitten me once again and I have a huge welt.

I recently dug out my Whites 6000 SL out of the closet. It has been years since I've used the contraption (kid born, work etc etc).

I put new batteries in it and took it out in the back yard and it won't tune. Nothing but jibberish and constant beeping. It won't even find a penny sitting on the ground.

Is this detector worth repairing? I know it was a pretty good one when I bought it in the early 90s.

I've got my eye on a Garrett AT Pro. Has the tech improved much these past 20 years? :laughing7:

Welcome to the forum. The AT Pro may be a good choice. Do you have any clubs in the area, perhaps you can test drive a few.

You could always call White's and ask them to look at it, then determine a detector path if the news is bad.

The most important part of the hobby is to have fun.
